What we actually found
The 390 Enduro R is the machine off-road riders have wanted since the launch of the 390 platform. Unlike the road-biased 390 Adventure, this is a dedicated dual-sport machine with minimalist bodywork, a flat enduro seat, and full 21"/18" spoked wheels. The new 399cc engine has an eager, snappy mid-range that easily out-drags traditional 250/300 singles on steep climbs. At 159kg wet, it hits a sweet spot: light enough to haul through slimy ruts and pick up repeatedly, yet powerful enough to cruise comfortably at 70mph on the tarmac links.
Pros for green laning
- Lightweight 159kg wet chassis: a true slim dirt-bike platform that is easy to pick up, turn around, and paddle through deep bogs.
- Long-travel suspension: 231mm travel front and rear with 272mm ground clearance and 21"/18" wheels clears logs and ruts effortlessly.
- Punchy 44.3hp single: produces 39Nm of torque with punchy low-to-mid drive that easily outperforms 250/300 singles on hill climbs.
- Dedicated Offroad electronics: features lean-sensitive traction control and switchable Offroad ABS (rear off) via a compact handlebar-mounted display.
Cons and limitations
- Small 9-litre fuel tank: real-world fuel range is limited to ~130-145 miles, requiring regular fuel planning on long cross-country loops.
- Tall 890mm seat height: demands confidence when stopping on rutted, off-camber banks.
- Minimal wind protection: a pure enduro headlight cowl offers no weather protection on cold winter dual-carriageway transits.
- Firm dirt-bike seat: a narrow competition-style bench seat becomes uncomfortable after an hour of seated road riding.

Remember: a rank here assumes reasonable stock tyres and a competent rider in decent conditions. The right tyres, or the wrong weather, can move a lane from easy to genuinely hard regardless of what bike you're on. Check a lane's own difficulty and hazards on the map before you go, don't rely on a bike score alone.
