Our take on each

Suzuki DR-Z4S: A genuinely excellent, modernised all-rounder for green laning, light, capable and well-equipped, with a seat height that will catch out shorter riders.

Suzuki DR-Z400S: An analogue, bombproof green-laning benchmark, light and gutsy off-road, though its tall seat and buzzy gearbox make it less relaxed on the road.

Remember: rider ability, tyres and the weather on the day move the real answer more than the bike does. Check each lane's own difficulty and legal status before you ride.
