Questions riders ask

Which long-distance route has the most green lane you can ride?

Of the routes on this page, the Ridgeway has the most, about 34 km open to motorcycles for at least part of the year.

Can you ride a National Trail on a motorbike?

Only where the trail runs along a byway or road with a right for motor vehicles. Being a National Trail doesn’t give or take away any vehicle rights, so most trails are a mix: some byway you can ride, and long stretches of footpath and bridleway you can’t.

Why are some Roman roads not rideable?

A Roman road has no special legal status today. What matters is what each stretch is now: a public road, a byway, a bridleway or a footpath, or nothing at all where the line crosses fields.
