Founder of Holloway
25 years riding, around 8 of them green laning. I built Holloway because I wanted an easier way to find and ride legal lanes, and I personally ride, test and review everything you'll find on it.
I've been riding motorcycles for 25 years, and I still love it as much as I did on day one. Over that time I've owned everything from a Yamaha R6, GSX-R750s and a Suzuki Bandit 1200, to an Aprilia Tuono and a Honda Transalp, alongside the adventure bikes I ride today. Somewhere in there I've put over a quarter of a million miles on two wheels.
Like a lot of riders my age, watching Long Way Round when it first came out stirred something in me. I still haven't owned a GS.
I've been green laning and trail riding for around 7 or 8 years now. Every time I went looking for a better way to actually find legal lanes, plan a route and know I was doing it legally, I came up short. So I built Holloway.
I built it for me first. I'm not an especially skilled rider, and I don't have hours and hours to spend on it, I've got a job, a family, and a list of things to do like everyone else. Holloway is built around that: open it, find a lane, get navigation to it. For most of us, that's genuinely all we want.
I've ridden all over the UK and Europe, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Spain, Andorra, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal, on pretty much every surface those countries throw at you. It's a big part of why Holloway's own reviews cover touring and road use as well as green lanes, most real riding is a mix of all of it, not one or the other.
Holloway isn't designed to make anyone rich. I've deliberately kept it low cost, enough to cover what it costs to run, not to build a business around. I care about looking after the lanes and the countryside they run through too, etiquette and upkeep matter to me as much as finding somewhere new to ride.
Away from bikes, it's decent coffee, heavy music, hiking and running, weight training, and good food and wine.
Dream garage additions: the Kove 450 Rally and the Ducati DesertX. Give it time.

Every review and post on Holloway is written from real, first-hand use, not a manufacturer-supplied test or a press release.
