Will your feet reach?
The KTM 890 Adventure has a 840mm seat. Enter your inside leg for a rough idea of how much foot you'll get down when stopped.
A rough guide only. A wide seat needs more leg than a narrow one, the suspension settles 20 to 40mm under you, and boots add a little. Many bikes offer a low seat or lowering link. Sit on one before you buy.
Tyres that fit the KTM 890 Adventure
It runs a 90/90-21 front and a 150/70-18 rear. 44 tyres in our Tyre Finder are made in at least one of those sizes, ranked by green lane score.
Sizes are for the standard UK model and can change between model years. Check the size on your own tyre sidewall, and ask your dealer before fitting a different size. Our size lists come from maker and retailer listings and can miss sizes, so a tyre shown for one end may still be made in your other size. Check the maker's size chart.
What we actually found
The 890 Adventure packs 105hp, WP suspension with 200mm of travel and a full electronics suite including cornering ABS and traction control onto 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. Motorcycle News rated it 4 out of 5 and found more punch than the 790 Adventure and sharper handling on and off road, with a 5 out of 5 for reliability. It is the most road-biased of the big adventure bikes here, which suits long road links, but a wet, rutted lane exposes the 215kg kerb weight.
Pros for green laning
- Strong, flexible engine: 105hp and 100Nm give easy climbing power and plenty of reserve for road links.
- Full electronics: traction control, cornering ABS and ride modes let you tune grip for slippery surfaces.
- Large tank: 20 litres gives a long range between fuel stops on an all-day lane ride.
- Reliable: Motorcycle News gave it a 5 out of 5 for reliability.
Cons and limitations
- Weight: 215kg kerb (196kg dry) is a lot to lift out of deep mud.
- Power and price: Motorcycle News rated value and equipment 3 out of 5 at the 11,949 pound launch price.
- Tall seat: 840mm to 860mm is hard work for shorter riders at gates and on uneven ground.
- Likely out of current UK production: KTM UK's range page lists the 890 Adventure R and 790 Adventure, so you may need to buy used.
