A former micaceous haematite mine north of Bovey Tracey, Dartmoor's last working mine until it closed in 1969, its mineral once processed into the rust-proof paint used on the Royal Albert Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
A preserved Dartmoor-edge mine that worked micaceous haematite, a flaky iron ore used in corrosion-resistant paint, on and off for over 1,000 years before finally closing in 1951.
