Current status

Closed to motor vehicles

Permanently closed to motor vehicles: Kirklees Council (Traffic Regulation) (No. 02) Order 2024 prohibits driving at all times on Ramsden Road, Brownhill Lane, Kiln Bent Road, Holme Woods Lane, Old Gate and Rake Head Road above Holmbridge, along with Scaly Gate, Scar End Lane and Cheese Gate Nab. There is no exemption for motorcycles; only emergency services, statutory works and vehicles with the council's written permission are exempt. The council's Cabinet Committee overruled objections and agreed to make the order on 15 April 2025, with a review after 12 months. The first 140m of Ramsden Road from White Gate Road is outside the order. Based on the draft order and the committee decision; we haven't read the sealed order itself.
